RRP to Invest ₹36,000 Cr in Chip, OSAT Units

RRP Electronics has announced a ₹36,000 crore investment plan to establish a semiconductor fabrication unit and an OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility in Maharashtra. The initiative, backed by partnerships with global industry leaders such as HMT Zurich, AMB Taiwan, and Deca Technologies, aims to accelerate India’s semiconductor manufacturing and packaging capabilities.

Strategic Global Partnerships

RRP Electronics has forged collaborations with leading semiconductor firms to bring cutting-edge technology and expertise to India. Among its key partners is Deca Technologies, a U.S.-based company specializing in advanced semiconductor packaging, along with AMB Taiwan and HMT Zurich from Switzerland.

The Maharashtra government is actively supporting the initiative, recognizing its potential to strengthen India’s position in the global semiconductor supply chain.

Expanding Semiconductor and OSAT Capabilities

The company’s ₹36,000 crore investment plan includes:

  • ₹24,000 crore allocated for a semiconductor fabrication unit, focused on manufacturing advanced microchips.
  • ₹12,035 crore for an OSAT facility, which will enhance India’s semiconductor packaging and testing capabilities.

RRP Electronics has also signed a Technology Transfer License Agreement (TTLA) with Deca Technologies, aimed at bolstering India’s semiconductor ecosystem with support from Qualcomm, Infineon, and ASE Group.

Projected Growth and Industry Expansion

RRP Electronics anticipates its revenue to exceed ₹260 crore by its second year of operations, with ambitious growth plans. The company is currently engaged in producing Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) in QFN (Quad Flat No-lead) packages for a Swiss customer, with qualification tests expected to be completed by August 2025.

As India intensifies efforts to establish itself as a global semiconductor hub, RRP Electronics’ investment represents a significant step towards reducing import dependency and strengthening the country’s domestic semiconductor infrastructure. The company’s focus on high-tech manufacturing, global partnerships, and rapid scalability positions it as a major player in India’s semiconductor revolution.
