NxtCell, Padget to Build Alcatel Phones in India

NxtCell India has signed a strategic Contract Manufacturing Agreement with Padget Electronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, to lead the production of Alcatel smartphones under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The collaboration aims to establish a future-ready manufacturing ecosystem for Alcatel—an iconic French tech brand—leveraging Indian production capabilities and next-generation technology.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in India’s evolving digital manufacturing landscape, bringing together Alcatel’s design legacy and Padget Electronics’ proven electronics manufacturing expertise. It positions NxtCell India as a key player in reintroducing the Alcatel brand to the Indian market with premium smartphones tailored to local consumers.

Technology transfer and advanced production capabilities

The partnership will facilitate the seamless integration of proprietary and patented display technologies into Alcatel smartphones. These technologies, developed and owned by NxtCell India, will now be embedded into devices manufactured from day one within India.

Production will take place at Padget’s advanced facilities, equipped with automation systems, AI-driven quality control, and sustainable operations. This infrastructure is designed to scale rapidly, supporting both domestic sales and global exports.

By localizing manufacturing and incorporating proprietary innovations, the alliance aims to enhance product quality, speed to market, and affordability—key drivers in India’s competitive smartphone segment.

Strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem

The move also reflects broader national goals to boost electronics production under the Make in India and Digital India initiatives. For Dixon Technologies, which has an established track record in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services), this deal adds another strategic client to its portfolio.

With deep experience in the consumer electronics space and strong operational alignment, NxtCell India and Padget Electronics aim to set new benchmarks for quality, design, and performance in India’s mobile handset market. The partnership reinforces India’s ambitions to emerge as a global hub for high-tech, large-scale electronics manufacturing.
