NETGEAR has announced its acquisition of cybersecurity firm Exium to accelerate its enterprise vision of delivering integrated cloud-based networking and security solutions for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The deal will bring Exium’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology into NETGEAR’s product ecosystem, providing a unified platform that simplifies operations for managed service providers (MSPs) and small IT teams.
With cybersecurity threats evolving in the AI era, SMEs often face challenges in deploying and managing complex security solutions. NETGEAR’s strategy now focuses on offering an all-in-one solution that merges wired and wireless networking with firewall and integrated security, managed through the company’s Insight cloud platform.
Expanding business capabilities through SASE integration
Gartner projects the SASE market to reach over $25 billion by 2027, growing at a 29% CAGR. Exium’s solution was designed specifically for MSPs, enabling rapid deployment and scalable service models for SME clients. By combining Exium’s security capabilities with its existing infrastructure, NETGEAR aims to remove the friction traditionally associated with piecing together separate networking and security platforms.

The integration will offer real-time protection, ease of use, and centralized visibility—all designed to support organizations without large IT departments.
Leadership continuity and product roadmap
Exium CEO Farooq Khan will join the NETGEAR for Business leadership team and continue to lead the evolution of the SASE solution under the NETGEAR brand. The transaction is expected to close by the end of Q2 2025, subject to standard regulatory and closing conditions.
This acquisition signals NETGEAR’s growing ambition in the enterprise space and its commitment to serving the underserved SME market with enterprise-grade, user-friendly, and cloud-native solutions.
