The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has formalised a partnership with Hafele India to strengthen support systems for startups in the manufacturing sector. This collaboration is designed to foster innovation, enable local sourcing, and enhance entrepreneurship within India’s evolving industrial ecosystem.
Focus on Product Innovation and Infrastructure Support
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two entities outlines a comprehensive framework aimed at building next-generation manufacturing capabilities. Hafele India, a prominent player in the furniture and fittings sector, will provide targeted support to startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This includes access to critical manufacturing infrastructure, technical collaboration, and development of supplier networks.
The company will also work to integrate selected startups into its global value chains, helping them expand their market reach beyond India. In doing so, Hafele seeks to bridge the gap between early-stage manufacturing innovation and scalable business execution.
DPIIT to Facilitate Ecosystem Access via Startup India
As part of the partnership, DPIIT will mobilise its Startup India platform to identify high-potential startups and connect them with Hafele for investment and mentorship opportunities. Through co-branded initiatives and event participation, the department aims to enhance visibility and credibility for emerging players in India’s manufacturing landscape.

Advancing Sustainable and Scalable Manufacturing
The partnership arrives at a time when India is looking to expand its footprint in global manufacturing. With a focus on sustainability and technology-driven growth, this collaboration is expected to encourage responsible manufacturing practices while building a stronger base of export-ready businesses.
The MoU was signed by Sumeet Kumar Jarangal on behalf of DPIIT and Frank Schloeder, Managing Director – South Asia, Hafele India.
