The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has launched a rigorous enforcement campaign against offshore online money gaming entities, blocking 357 non-compliant websites/URLs and freezing nearly ₹126 crore held across 2,400 bank accounts. The move comes as part of the government’s ongoing effort to address GST evasion, protect financial integrity, and curb illegal gambling activity.
A Coordinated Effort to Disrupt Illicit Networks
So far, the DGGI has identified around 700 offshore platforms suspected of avoiding GST registration, underreporting pay-ins, and operating without authorisation. In collaboration with MeitY, websites were blocked under Section 69 of the IT Act, while further operations—conducted with NPCI and I4C—led to the freezing of accounts tied to UPI-linked bank accounts and mule accounts.
One operation alone uncovered 166 mule accounts tied to platforms such as Satguru, Mahakaal, and Abhi247, run by Indian nationals from abroad. Three individuals have been arrested so far.
National and Financial Security at Stake
DGGI noted that several high-profile Bollywood and sports celebrities, along with social media influencers, were found promoting these offshore platforms. The public has been advised to avoid such services, which not only jeopardise personal finances but may also channel funds into illicit activities with national security implications.

Greater Scrutiny Ahead of IPL
With the IPL season approaching, DGGI has stated that it will ramp up enforcement, targeting both domestic and offshore illegal gaming networks. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumers, supporting fair competition, and ensuring full compliance with Indian tax laws.
This crackdown sends a clear message: non-compliance will not be tolerated. Businesses and consumers alike must prioritise regulated platforms and legal compliance to maintain the integrity of India’s growing digital economy.
