UIDAI Pilots Face Authentication for NEET 2025

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has successfully conducted a Proof of Concept (PoC) on the use of face authentication during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 in New Delhi.

This pioneering initiative was executed in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA), marking a major step toward enhancing examination security and streamlining candidate verification through advanced biometric technologies.

Seamless Integration and High Accuracy

The objective of the PoC was to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of Aadhaar-based face authentication as a method for verifying the identity of candidates appearing for one of India’s largest entrance examinations.

Face authentication was deployed at select NEET centres in Delhi, integrated seamlessly with NIC’s digital infrastructure and NTA’s examination protocols. The process operated in real time using Aadhaar’s biometric database, delivering contactless and efficient verification. Results indicated a very high level of accuracy, reinforcing the viability of face authentication at scale.
