India’s ‘AI for All’ vision is backed by concrete action, with the country emerging as a global leader in AI skill penetration and talent concentration, according to Union Minister Jitin Prasada. Speaking at Nasscom Global Confluence 2025, the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & IT emphasized that India ranks first globally in AI skills, surpassing the United States and Germany.

“It’s not just about numbers; it’s about impact,” Prasada stated, highlighting how India is leveraging AI to drive digital transformation and economic growth. As nations worldwide modernize traditional sectors through technology, India is positioned to be a strategic technology partner in shaping the global digital economy.

India’s AI and IT Leadership

India’s dominance in the AI talent market is reinforced by its strong digital infrastructure and expanding IT sector. The country’s IT industry reached $254 billion in revenue in FY24, with a presence in over 80 countries, serving Fortune 500 companies with cutting-edge technological solutions.

“Our strength lies in a highly skilled workforce, expertise in emerging technologies, and the ability to partner with the world in its digital transformation journey,” Prasada said. With 28% of the world’s STEM workforce and 23% of global software engineers, India is a key player in AI innovation, research, and deployment.

Strengthening R&D and Future Skill Development

Calling for greater industry investment in R&D, Prasada stressed that businesses must prioritize innovation to maintain India’s global edge. He noted that India’s government is working to ensure future skills programs reach every part of the country, equipping the workforce with AI and digital expertise to compete on a global scale.

“We are ensuring that even the most remote villages have access to training programs, so our workforce can engage with the rapid transformation of the tech industry,” he said.
